The Universitat Politècnica de València needed to renew the design
of its scientific journal platform Polipapers.
The project went beyond an aesthetic change. It was to add new functionalities
and present more metadata in each of the publications of the platform.
The challenge
Due to the high number of hosted publications the design had to be flexible so
that each editorial team could decide to present the articles in two different
ways: in list or in card format.
Solution
The public side of the platform was completely renewed and, at the same time, the management panel was modified to allow the introduction of new metadata
by the technical teams of each academic journal.
- It is possible to access the journals by highlighting them according to their themes. A selection module has been developed in the control panel so that each title, or a new addition, appears in the selected thematic areas.
- Several fields were developed in the control panel of for each journal so that editors could add the most current quality indicators of the mastheads.
- The summary view of the articles has been lightened, showing the
information of the authors in an independent panel with all their
relevant information: ORCID, affiliation, email, ROR identification of
their institution,… - The platform was prepared for the publication of articles in different
formats with the styles added in the stylesheet of the theme.
