The Escola Superior de Conservació i Restauració de Béns Culturals de Catalunya needed a platform for its academic journal Unicum.
Without losing sight of the fact that it is an academic publication, the design should highlight the high aesthetic component of the cultural assets that appear in its pages.
The challenge
To be able to bring the contents included in the articles to the platform and to make it a continuation of the journal.
Solution
An analysis of the articles published in previous years was carried out, selecting the most identifying elements of the masthead, to base the OJS design on them.
- Each of the different sections of the magazine were highlighted in a way easy to identify for those who access the platform to consult the publication.
- The design was transferred to every corner of the platform, including the registration page and access to itself.
- The covers of Unicum are a work of art in themselves. The back issues section of the platform was meant to highlight them without distraction. They are presented in chronological order on a dark background to make their designs stand out as much as possible.
- The summary page continues the color coding of the section and all article information is displayed in a dry stick font, which is easy to read on screens.
